I remember this …
I remember this excercise from gym class growing up. One of our teachers gave us a test where we had to hold the plank and the wall sit for 20 minutes. About 90% of the class failed. Good old gym class.

Trained them for about 2 months to get upto that, my record is 7:02 and can now get no further so 10 mins is a no no. I have cut them back for now to do much smaller times, but I plan to come back at them again.

Ab exercises wont make you lose much weight they will build muscle. If you want to lose weight then do an aerobic exercise such as skipping, running, boxing etc

Planks have always …
Planks have always seemed [to me] to be one of the more “useless” ab exercises. [As far as gaining a 6-8pack] I started working out 14 years ago and the quickest and most useful ab exercises that worked [for me] were the bicycle crunch, reverse crunch and hanging leg raises. I reached the point of holding planks for a little over 6 minutes and while my abs stayed firm with planks, gaining definition doesnt happen.
