Depends on what …
Depends on what supplement. You may or may not need it.
Also, this video is COMPLETELY wrong. Nothing he says here is accurate.

Ok, let me make …
Ok, let me make this absolutely and unmistakably clear: YOU CAN BUILD MUSCLE WITH JUST EATING AND NOT EXERCISING. The body can and does build muscle with eating alone. For every 50 pounds of fat you put on, you’ll have 10 pounds of muscle spread out across your body somewhere. I’m a doctor. I know.

The example you …
The example you gave about Americans is not valid. People who eat unhealthy food at irregular intervals are not exactly the best models to go by. If you were eating every 3 hours (as you should), getting mostly protein, liquid fats, and little if any carbs, you would build muscle. A simple biopsy can confirm this.

Finally, you do not …
Finally, you do not store protein as fat. High protein diets are recommended for this reason. The body either uses protein as energy, to build muscles, or throws it away. Very little, if any, gets stored as fat. No, extra protein wont make you extra big, but it cant hurt you and its always better to get too much than too little.

I know your …
I know your intentions are good, and your heart is in the right place, but you end up misleading just as many people as you guide. Its always best to research the HELL out of a topic, know it intimately: backwards, forwards, and every way else, before you try teaching others. I made that mistake early in my career, being young and enthusiastic, and made a fool out of myself.

That is a logical …
That is a logical fallacy called straw man. You are distorting what he is saying and putting words into his mouth. What do you think is the most common problem: Eating too little or not progressing? Definatly progressing right? No amount of food helps you to progress if your training is not well thought out. And that is what he is trying to say.

Hey, doctor! Muscle …
Hey, doctor! Muscle is 73% percent water being held together by GLYCOGEN in your muscles. The only protein that’s in our muscles are what doctor? Remember doc? MYOSIN. Contractile proteins. What stimulates this doctor? Hmmm, I dont know! Maybe a BRIEF, INTENSE, INFREQUENT STIMULUS FROM ANAEROBIC EXERCISE!! “I’m a doctor, I know.” Sure hope you aint mine if that’s the case.

Darn. 20+ years of …
Darn. 20+ years of research using double blind placebo controlled studies on the effects of over feeding while given bed rest providing irrefutable proof that muscle gain happens without exercise just cant stand up little Billy and his high school biology class. The world’s leading scientists are wrong. WRONG! ALL OF THEM!!! We should have listened to someone on youtube named “clitcommander”.

This guy is way off …
This guy is way off,
I started to bodybuild a couple of years ago, I trained for 7 months without a proper diet, eating at maintenance calories and following a good workout routine, I Did’nt put on a single pound, Although my bodyfat dropped by 1percent, That equals about a 2 lb gain in muscle mass, Not too great for 7 months of lifting,

1 set of Breathing …
1 set of Breathing squats, followed by one set of light pullovers 2-3 days a week. And add five pounds to the bar each new ex. day. ONLY exercise 2-3 days a week if you want to get bigger. ANything more is ridiculous.

Oh yea I forgot that constitutional law that says a doctor cannot donate their time to the community or to special causes. I guess all those free clinics and charity hospitals everywhere dont exist.

The reason you’re …
The reason you’re gaining that much muscle, is because eating more gives you more energy you twat, hense you can work out more efficiently. God I hate idiots, read a fucking book. This man has taken a fitness and nutrition university acredited course that I’m surrently in my second year of, just wehn you think you’ve got it all figured out, you don’t. jackass

ok i have been lifting weights for 3 years and i never saw any results. later i found that you need to eat tons of protein and carbs before and after you work out. so i began to stuff myself i boght protein bars and ate tuna fish every day in 3 weeks my bench went up 20 pounds my power clean went up 20 my squat went up 25 and my chest got alot bigger and more solid. i think the whole diet thing really depends on the person. all i know is stuffin myself with protein has no doubt helped me

Why are you getting so defensive about this? Don’t like the fact that maybe your books AREN’T 100% correct?

Look, unless you …
Look, unless you have a lack of protein in your body, it doesnt do shit. Only adds fat.
When you stress your muscle, the body thinks, it need to have that much more muscles. Then it starts to build it, and when it builds it, it uses protein. If you have enough protein in your body for that intended growth, adding more protein will not add more growth, just FAT. The ONLY thing that can change the blueprint, is stressing it.
Bricks didnt build the great wall of china, the chinese did!

Look, unless you …
Look, unless you LIKE to aim for small growth, you need a lot of protein before and after your workout. If you’re looking to gain big, you need to work hard. Judging by what you’ve typed here I assume you’re comfortable doing a 30 pound benchpress indefinitely. No 200s or 400s for you, not now, not later, not ever, just a comfortable easy workout. Meaning, your spoonful of peanut butter is enough and anything more goes to waste. I get your point.

What did I say that …
What did I say that made you think that? Doesnt even look like you where replying to my post. Try to read it again please.
What I am saying, is that the EXTRA protein doesnt help, nomather how hard you train, there is a limit for how much growth you will get. An if you have the protein needed for that, any EXTRA protein will be added as fat. Because there isnt more muscle to rebuild!
IndiaSevenSeven Says:

How do you know …
How do you know when the protein is extra? Do you have a meter?

you are avoiding …
you are avoiding the point, that what Steve says in this video, and Im saying in my posts, are 100% correct.
To answer you question:
Everyone who are serious about training towards a goal should have a basic knowledge about how many calories they take in, and how much they burn in a day. This can easily be calcualtet ROUGHLY.
Atleast 60% of all my calories comes from protein, wich is more than enough for my muscles. The rest is converted to energy, not fat, because i have a calori defict.
